Georgia's Consumers' Insurance Advocate

The office of Georgia's Consumers' Insurance Advocate was established in 1999.

It was created to represent Georgia consumers in order to ensure appropriate and quality insurance coverage at the lowest reasonable rates. The Advocate represents Georgia consumers by reviewing and making recommendations to the Insurance Commissioner on rate hike requests and other regulatory matters, increasing education of consumers on issues, risks and decisions affecting them, identifying trends in insurance practices, responding to consumer questions and complaints, and appearing on behalf of consumers in administrative proceedings affecting insurance.
